Serious Fun!

Jonnie, who has done such a great job in inspiring others to be a part of this on-line community, said he would like it if maybe some of us could post a blog about our day and I, fool that I am, said I’d do it.

It’s the end of the first full conference day. I’m sitting here in my room after returning from the Field trip and it’s time to blog…..

So.
Ice breaker Sessions were fun and mostly high energy with a few lower energy moments for balance. I Know things about my fellow IAN’ers that I didn’t this morning. And I’ll share just one or two. When asked to list three of our favorites, Theresa Norton self censored herself and didn’t write ‘Kissing’ as one of them.
Note: Lots of improvisers like chocolate.

The opening of the Open Space was exciting as we create an agenda for our conference. How cool is that? Surely this is the way we walk the walk as well as talking the talk.

I declined to walk the longer walk that a few people chose. They made one of the session locations an S.P.E. Some Place Else. And that Some place was the Brooklyn Bridge which they walked as they chatted about stuff.

Instead I joined a session convened by Dan Moshavi on Measuring the Impact. Where we talked though some thoughts on how we need to provide some quantitative results as proof to the outside world that this stuff works. Dan agreed to post some links to articles that are out there and I for one am looking forward to seeing them.

After the break I joined the playground and just kicked back and played some games. Each one was followed by a quick chat about where and how we could use them and some of the debrief points.

So that’s the part of my day I’m going to share with those of you who couldn’t be with us. It’s my way of trying to give something to this community and if I get the chance I’ll do the same tomorrow as well. I’ll even let you know how the 2 sessions I’m convening Teaching the ‘hard’ skills with improv and Improv and Accelerated Learning work out.

Oh and I know for a fact that at least one group sang to someone on the subway on the way to the filed trip. I was in that group.
