Mathias Kippe

Mathias Kippe lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland. In 1996 he encountered improvisation for the first time in a drama class at the University of Zurich and became a member of the first improvisation theater company in Switzerland, the Federation Improvisation Theater. He finished his studies at the University of Zurich with a masters in pedagogics in 1998. The following years he immersed himself in improvisation, dramaturgy, rhetoric and stage direction. In 2000 he participated in a seven days workshop held by Keith Johnstone in Zurich. Mathias successfully managed the marketing of the very first international Theatersports Festival in Zurich and launched in 2004 the Swiss Improvisation Association.

Since 1997, when he gave his first show in public, he has performed in about 500 shows all over Switzerland and Germany. Beside performing on stage Mathias has always worked as an improvisation coach and had a teaching position at a drama school in Zurich.

Aside from his new improvisations duo impro&contra Mathias Kippe founded together with Denise Meili in 2005 the company Meili & Kippe. Under the label INSZENARIO they offer performance coachings and developed a creativity training based on improvisation techniques.
