Shapiro is a 24-year veteran of the business
world and financial industry. A Chicago native,
she spent 15 years at the Chicago Board of Trade.
As a result, her comprehension of the markets is
informed and thorough. An accomplished actor and
comedienne, she performed regularly in Chicago’s
vibrant off-loop theatre scene as well as being
a student of the Second City Improv Lab.
After moving to Dallas in 1995, she brought both
of these strengths together. You can now hear her
daily hosting North Texas NPR Affiliate, KERA 90.1’s,
“Marketplace Midday.” As a financial
commentator, her unusual approach of blending humor
with unbridled, down to earth analysis provokes
attention, praise and sometimes a disagreement or
two. Maxine can also we heard regularly on the nationally
syndicated “Marketplace Morning Edition.”
The same warmth and one of a kind personality that
comes through on radio has put her in demand as
a public speaker and emcee. But she has not forgotten
her roots. In the afternoon, whenever possible,
she plays Spolin Theatre Games with inner-city school
kids, neurology patients and any group that’s
willing to be vulnerable and have fun. Maxine also
continues her acting career doing numerous independent
films, commercials, and theatrical productions.
