| Christopher
von Baeyer, M.A. is an actor, educator and
consultant who specializes in the integration of theatre and human
development. He is the Artistic Director for the
Toronto Playback Theatre Project, which he founded
with the mission of providing dynamic, audience-interactive,
issues-based theatre in the Toronto area. As a Senior
Consultant with The Ariel Group, he divides his
time between North America, Europe, the Middle East and
Asia, where he designs and delivers performance
training programs in voice, acting, emotional
intelligence, leadership and professional communication.
He has taught at Emerson College and Boston College
in Boston, Massachusetts, the Kellogg Graduate School
of Management in Chicago, the Columbia University
Senior Executive Program in NY, and the Harvard
Business School.. He recently served as a Master
Artist at the Banff Centre in a forum entitled The
New Story-Makers: Power, Influence, and Authenticity
in a Media Dominated World. His corporate clients
have included Merrill Lynch, Societe Generale, Lucent
Technologies, Deloitte &Touche, Sandia National
Laboratories, the Boston Consulting Group,the Canadian
Government and the Hearst Corporation.
In his career as a professional actor, Christopher
has trained, performed and directed with theatres
including the Roy Hart Theatre in France, Geese
Theatre for Prisons in New Hampshire, Boston Playback
Theatre and Shakespeare &Company in the Berkshires
of Massachusetts, where he has served on the faculty
since 1993. As a designated Linklater Voice teacher
he ran the Linklater Voice Studio in Boston for
five years. His one man show, an exploration of
the mother/son relationship called Mother's Basement,
has been featured at theatres and conferences in
Boston and New York. He has also maintained a long
term interest in issues relating to men in our society,
and been a founding member of men's groups in Boston,
the Berkshires and Toronto.
He holds a B.A. in English and American Literature
from Harvard University and an M.A. in Psychodrama
and Vocal Communication from Lesley University Graduate School. His work is deeply influenced by
his personal study with masters in the field of
Theatre and Human Development, including Keith Johnstone,
Jonathon Fox, Augusto Boal, Kristin Linklater, Bob
Ginn and Mark Rittenberg. His recent publications
include The Sound of Truth, a practical and theoretical
exploration of voice and self-scripted autobiographical
storytelling and The Power of Presence: What Actors can teach Business Leaders,
which appeared in The Journal for the Institute
for Knowledge Management. He currently resides in
Toronto with his wife and young son.
